Hamstead Campus student accommodation

Living at Hamstead Campus

One of the houses divided into flats is shown below - Hazel House. These houses each have three floors, of which each floor has three flats. Each flat then has six rooms off a central corridor, with an incedibly small shower room at the end. They then have another small shower room with toilet, a separate small toilet room, and a reasonably sized kitchen. No communal lounge area is provided.

2010

In 2010 Hamstead Campus was taken over by Evenbrook. Do you live there now? Let us know what it's like.

2006 / 2007

"Official photos of Hamstead Campus are quite deceptive in that they do not show the actual houses that students will live in if they choose to share flats here. What is shown is the exterior of the original building - a grand, impressive looking building, that houses the students living in halls, sharing bathrooms and showers. One of the shared houses is pictured above, containing nine cramped flats with old furniture.

Rooms are small and crampt, with a school-like desk and hard, plastic chair. A bed with poor matress, an arm chair, bed side table and cupboard are also provided to fill up the rest of the room. A sink with typically often broken taps is also provided.

The walls, floors and ceilings are so thin that it's very easy to annoy others with loud music, and to be constantly interupted by others.

The only attractive feature of Hamstead Campus is the grass areas, perfect for football or frisbee on a sunny day.

Security at Hamstead Campus

Security is very poor. While all entrances into the campus have security card access, car access gates were broken for around three months during the 2006/07 term, with little care given to manually identifying cars entering.

Security within the campus itself is practically non-existant, with apparent regular patrols doing nothing to provide any kind of security to any residents. The emergency phone number to reach security would often go unanswered."

The views above were provided by Nick Johnston, resident at Hamstead Campus during 2006/07.
